Handmade Clay Hot Chocolate Jug

$50 USD

Clay cookware has been used in Mexico for generations, and can be found in almost every Mexican kitchen, it is a tradition passed down by the ancient Aztecs. Even today, clay cookware is often preferred because of the unique flavor it gives to food.

Carefully hand-crafted by artisans in Mexico, this beautiful jug is still made with the ancient hand molding techniques of the past. Perfect for making traditional Mexican hot chocolate, just place over a medium flame (or on electric range) and add milk and chocolate. For best results, use our Villa Real Mexican chocolate and our hand-carved molinillos to stir and froth.

This pot can also be used to heat teas, soups and coffee, or will also help keep icy drinks like water and fresh lemonade cool for longer. The elegant handle and spout make for easy serving.

To cure your hot chocolate jug, fill with cool water below its rim, bring the water to a boil on the stove, and allow it to simmer for about 5 minutes. Turn off the heat, and allow the water and pot to cool. Discard the water, and your clay pot is ready to use.
