With a personality as sweet as her name, Midwestern beauty Noel Berry shares her life as a model while speaking on her upcoming blog where she's now on the other side of the microscope, all while giving tips for the perfect selfie.
If you had to describe yourself, who is Noel?
Noel is kind, outgoing, and funny (at least I like to think so).
You're about to launch a blog titled Noel Knows Best, where you critique the style of famous athletes, how did the idea come about?
It all just came out of a lunch conversation. I was having lunch with Joe and my boyfriend Isaiah. We were discussing sports shows, and the outrageous outfits some of the players had worn the night before. Then we started talking about how cool it would be to have a fashion model critique the outfits the athletes wear.
What could we expect from your critiques? Are they going to be sharp and to the point or are you going to be easy on them with a bit of sugar coating?
There's definitely going to be some sugar coating, I don't want it to be rude or negative. More of instead of putting those pieces together I would have put this and this.
If you had to describe your aesthetics in 5 words or less, what would they be?
Determined, appreciative, passionate, creative, easygoing.
What are your favorite brands? Places to shop?
I really love YSL, Gucci, and Rag & Bone. I think Intermix is a great place to shop because they pick seasonal pieces from all different designers!
You walked in NYFW this past February, how was that experience? Any favorite moments?
It was a great experience overall. It is very hard work though, which I don't think a lot of people realize, some days I was having 14 hour days and would get back to my hotel so tired. It's so exciting and rewarding when you're walking the shows though! I think my favorite moment was opening Elie Saab, that was a big highlight for me as it was the first show I have ever opened.
Of course, I have to ask, how was YEEZY Season 5?
Yeezy Season 5 was very exciting! The clothes were comfortable and cool, the music for the show was amazing and just a great vibe overall. I really enjoyed it.
Is there a part of modeling you didn't expect? Good or bad?
I didn't expect everyone to be so nice, I honestly thought I would work with a lot of people who were rude or entitled, but I rarely have negative experiences. Everyone I work with is usually very kind.
If you weren’t modeling what would you be pursuing? Was there a childhood dream job besides modeling?
I had so many ideas of what I wanted to do when I was younger, but something I really thought I might do was become a doctor. Seems so funny now
What are your thoughts on social media becoming such a big important factor in the creative world?
I think it's a great platform for people to share their talents, on the other hand, I do hate how important it is in society and even in your work now. I think things would be simpler without it.
Speaking of which, what are your tips for a perfect selfie?
It's all about lighting! Great lighting, sunlight is my favorite and good angles!
